Women Veterans Day - June 12th, 2022

ON JUNE 12, 1948, PRESIDENT HARRY S. TRUMAN SIGNED INTO LAW THE WOMEN’S ARMED SERVICES INTEGRATION ACT ALLOWING WOMEN TO SERVE AS REGULAR MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY.

On May 5, 2017, Representative Victoria Neave filed House Bill 2698, establishing Women Veterans Day. HB2698 was later incorporated into Texas Senate Bill 805 and on June 9, 2017 was signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott designating June 12th as Women Veterans Day.

The photos below are from the local ceremony at MVPN with TVC and Commissioner Mike Hernandez recognizing Women Veterans who have completed the TVC Employment Services Program. Each obtained careers that continue serving others for the greater good.

If you'd like more information, or assistance with Employment or any of the eight programs TVC provides to assist Veterans, please reach out to myself ( Sherry Byard ), Tremayne V. Hubbard , Sofia Villarreal, Larry Denton or Tvc.Texas.gov.
